Resilience is attracting a lot of attention these days and so we have decided to concentrate on this theme this issue – Our Big Question poll last issue confirmed our thinking that Resilience can be learnt – 100% of you believed it could be – so the question you may now be thinking is how …

From understanding more about resilience and how to build career resilience and defuse conflict to learning more about how organisations can help create a culture that support women in the workplace to hearing how a leading entrepreneur balances a successful career with being an active mum. To read more about what we’re covering in this issue, click here.

I start the ball rolling by providing tips on how to defuse conflict; useful in the office and at home, and definitely a technique that helps to promote your personal resilience. Executive Coach Kate Buller develops the theme further in her in-depth article on “How to achieve career resilience” and Frances King provides Top 10 Tips for building resilience. In our Leaders Corner, Zoe Sinclair, who was one of Red magazine’s women of 2010, shares her secrets for how to balance building a very successful company with being an active mum. Zoe left corporate life to strike out on her own where she could create a culture that suited her needs. Dr Bridget Juniper looks at corporate cultures from the perspective of Wellbeing, a key aspect of resilience, and Goldman Sachs tell us about their Returnships programme which is dedicated to attracting back into the workplace talented women who leave, often to find a more balanced life whilst raising young children.

We’d love to get your feedback on what you’d like us to include in future issues, so do drop me a line with any suggestions. This issue’s Big Question is on the theme of the Future of Work – given the change in Technology and working practices, the future of the ‘office’ is called into question. Please do take a second to respond – for every respondent we will match this with a 1 donation to our charity CORAM, which supports the UK’s most vulnerable children.

Best wishes,
